Adult Student Recruitment Specialist

Location: Canandaigua, NY

The Adult Student Recruitment Specialist is an ambassador for FLCC, serving as a primary contact for prospective adult student learners. The person in this position must promote credit and non-credit program options to prospective students, employers, and community organizations.

This is a full-time, grant-funded position.

Qualifications:

  1. Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

  2. Experience: A minimum of one year’s experience required in college admissions counseling, college academic support, or counseling setting with a focus on aiding college bound students. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with preferred experience at using student information systems (e.g. Ellucian
    Colleague, Banner). Experience3 leveraging CRM systems with recruitment, Slate Technolutions preferred. Strong interpersonal skills required including effective sales management and customer relations skills, public speaking, listening skills, and excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Strong organization skills with the ability to pay attention to detail, to use effective time and task management techniques. Ability to embrace a flexible work schedule with evening and weekend work hours required to cover recruitment activities, extended office hours, and other admissions initiatives. Overnight travel will be required. Valid, clean and current NY State driver's license required.

Essential Functions:

  1. Serves as an energetic, upbeat representative for Finger Lakes Community College at career fairs, employer visits, industry events, and in a variety of other on- and off- campus recruitment and community events.

  2. Maintains a broad knowledge base about all facets of FLCC to effectively communicate the benefits and features of our academic programs, funding opportunities, facilities, course modality, and support services.

  3. Counsels adult learners on college policies and procedures; and guides through steps involved in the enrollment process.

  4. Maintains a thorough knowledge of all FLCC academic offerings in order to effectively refer
    students to the appropriate departments and services required for success.

  5. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to admissions
    practices.

  6. Serves as the Enrollment Management liaison to employers seeking career and technical
    education (CTE) opportunities for their employees.

  7. Partners with Workforce, Career, and Experiential Learning to expand employer relationships for both credit and non-credit student registration.

  8. Develops partnerships with community-based organizations (CBOs) and service area county
    agencies serving adult populations.

  9. Coordinates outreach events focused on adult learners, including workshops, presentations, on-campus events, and community events.

  10. Collaborates with Marketing and Enrollment Communications on adult learner campaigns,
    including print, digital, and social media.

  11. Monitors recruitment pipelines and enrollment outcomes using CRM data.

  12. Serves as a resource regarding SUNY Reconnect eligibility and enrollment processes.

  13. Actively recruits and communicates with prospective students via personal meetings, e-mail,
    and phone outreach.

  14. Reviews and interprets all aspects of high school transcripts and test scores to ensure that
    candidates have met high school graduation requirements.

  15. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Benefits and salary range:

Applicants receiving benefits through the New York State Retirement System should review state regulations regarding post-retirement employment. This position is not eligible for employment under a Section 211 waiver.

  1. Competitive starting salary in the range of $53,501 to $58,397 and is commensurate with qualifications

  2. A flexible work schedule is available upon successful completion of training. This position follows a hybrid model, with a combination of on-site and remote work.
