Faculty will be hired at the academic rank commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking an equity-minded educator who is committed to FLCC's mission, vision, and values.

Teaching and Curriculum:

  1. Teaches a mix of courses in sociology, sex and gender, marriage and family, and special topics.
  2. Develops and delivers course materials in various formats, including in-person, online, asynchronous, and hy-flex modalities.
  3. Serves on college committees.
  4. Participates in curriculum development activities.
  5. Maintains office hours and be available to students as needed and as stated in the bargaining agreement.
  6. Participates in professional growth and development activities.
  7. Travels locally and teaches at our extension centers.

Advising, Service & Professional Development:

  1. Advises and mentors students, supporting their academic and career goals.
  2. Participates in curriculum development and assessment, ensuring best practices.
  3. Supports initiatives that enhance student retention and engagement.
  4. Stays current with emerging technology trends, integrating them into courses.
  5. Engages in opportunities for growth in all facets of effective, inclusive teaching and learning.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Master's Degree in Sociology required; Ph.D. preferred. Degrees in related fields may be considered where they include substantial graduate-level coursework in Sociology. Community College experience preferred.
  2. A minimum of one year of teaching sociology at the college level is required.

Benefits and Salary Range

  1. Salary will depend on rank according to education and experience – Starting salary: Instructor: $56,132; Assistant Professor: $62,567.
