Social Sciences Faculty - Psychology/Sociology (FA)

Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) is searching for a full-time Faculty of Psychology/Sociology. Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking an equity-minded educator who is committed to FLCC's mission, vision, and values.

Teaching:

  1. Teaches a mix of Sociology and Psychology Courses, such as Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, Introduction to Psychology, Child Psychology, Adolescent Psychology, Life Span Development, and Research Methods in Psychology.
  2. Develops and deliver course materials in a variety of formats, including in-person, online asynchronous, and hy-flex modalities.
  3. Travels locally and teaches at our extension centers.
  4. Fosters an inclusive and technology-forward learning environment.

Advising, Service & Professional Development:

  1. Advise and mentor students, supporting their academic and career goals in Psychology and Sociology.
  2. Collaborates with faculty in our Social Science Department to expand interdisciplinary projects.
  3. Participates in curriculum development and assessment, ensuring best practices in Psychology and Sociology pedagogy.
  4. Stays current in emerging trends in both fields.
  5. Engages in opportunities for growth in all facets of effective, inclusive teaching and learning.
  6. Supports initiatives that enhance student retention and engagement.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree in Psychology with previous experience teaching Research Methods courses and a minimum 18 credits in Sociology at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  2. Demonstrated excellence in teaching experience at the college level, preferably in a community college setting.
  3. Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Ph.D. in Psychology, and a minimum 18 credits in Sociology at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  2. Demonstrated excellence in teaching experience at the college level, preferably in a community college setting.
  3. Previous experience teaching Research Methods courses.

Benefits and Salary Range

  1. Salary will depend on rank according to education and experience – Starting salary: Instructor: $56,132; Assistant Professor: $62,567.
