Director of Enterprise Systems (PA)

Location: Canandaigua, NY

The Director of Enterprise Systems duties involve progressive integration of technology and information systems, provide leadership in prioritizing and implementing technical projects and ensure that upgrades and new acquisitions are consistent with departmental goals. This position provides support to employees and students, often with direct interaction required to resolve issues. This position develops systems architecture and design, along with project management for new application integrations as directed by the Network Administrator. As part of the enterprise team, supports all IT systems and users at the College.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: Associates Degree Required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Computer Science or related field.
  2. Experience: Four years’ experience in the administration of enterprise technical services required. Experience and knowledge in the areas of software and OS upgrades, Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, Azure and Active Directory preferred. Desired one year’s supervisory experience. Demonstrable knowledge in hybrid cloud architecture, client-server applications, Windows systems administration, security management, single sign-on, and system virtualization is preferred.
  3. Special Skills: Work experience with PowerShell, PowerAutomate, PowerApps, VMware, planning and leading hardware and software acquisitions, Office 365, disaster recovery, back up recovery strategies, MS-SQL, Linux and Unidata is preferred. Ability to work collaboratively and independently, to innovate new complex systems solutions, and should possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

Essential Functions:

  1. Manages, maintains, and monitors business critical college communication services such as email, voice mail and the Employee Portal using SharePoint. With systems both at Microsoft 365 and on-premises, using Microsoft Exchange and SharePoint, attention to the details for security updates is required. Responsibility for routine systems operation and event response may require rapid reactions when problems occur, such as protecting the email system when a compromised account is detected.
  2. Provides the needs analysis, planning and direction for enterprise and desktop computing resources. Ensures appropriate backup systems and security processes for the servers are implemented and has a role in the design of disaster recovery plans and procedures.
  3. Works with Information Technology department staff members to establish and maintain a long- term technical integration. Plans systems enhancements to improve the efficiency of system maintenance and operations.
  4. Troubleshoots account creation using an understanding of Single Sign On principles and implementations, along with account provisioning processes used with Active Directory. Maintains security groups and distribution lists created for access to college resources.
  5. Scripting and other programming methods for both ad hoc activities and to implement task automation for processes. Able to use PowerShell or PowerAutomate for direct Microsoft systems administration.
  6. Serves as secondary administrator for College systems not specifically assigned to the position as primary duties. This many include backup administration, hardware virtualization administration using VMware, Microsoft Exchange and email flow, and other critical application systems support.
  7. Performs standard systems administration tasks such as installation of systems both hardware and software, application, and operating system software patches, decommission retired applications and hardware, and monitor applications as required. Works with the enterprise team in a collaborative work environment.
  8. Proactively safeguards data security at all times. This position has access to confidential data and is responsible for protecting the College from accidental disclosure. Must be aware of all relevant information privacy and security regulations, such as FERPA, HIPAA, GDPR, GBLA, PCI and how these apply to the College.
  9. Serves as an effective team member in the Division of Information Technology. Plan, develop and implement projects and goals as a member of the enterprise team in a manner consistent with established policies and procedures.
  10. Other related duties as assigned.

  1. Competitive starting salary in the range of $65,008 to $80,500 and is commensurate with qualifications
